Our grand daughter graduated grade eight

Hi all, sorry for the neglect to this blog. Can't promise I will be more consistent but I hope. Our oldest granddaughter graduated grade eight this week, this called for at least a card, I used a sketch 218 from Atlantic hearts challenge  and the colours from the Color my heart color dare to use the colours from our "No Worries" paper pack....CURRENT CHALLENGE #249, so this is what I created using the required colours:
I realise that the cowgirl is not one of our stamps but just love her anyway. I used sapphire, sea glass (I know it is not in the colour options matched her dress), and glacier, with lagoon stars. I used the wood embossing folder to emboss the cardstock to give it some texture. Also enjoyed colouring this up with our Shin Han markers, and layering the colours to get as close as I could to the challenge colours. Love the way this turned out.

Another sketch challenge with a color challenge thrown in!

Hi all, some play time and planning time for my next card workshop, Friday, April 21. I love challenging myself with some of the challenges I follow, sadly I do not always take the time to play and create. This week on the Atlantic hearts challenge sketch 207 we are challenged to use this sketch  and on the Color my heart color dare we are challenged to use: No automatic alt text available.

This is my creation:
I found the slate colour too plain for me and since I have been on a heat embossing kick, I thought why not try it, I am fairly happy with the results. Another birthday card to add to my stash, now to remember to mail them out at the appropriate time is another story. Enjoy.

Reading buddies

Hello all, my hubby has been going to our youngest grandchildren's school to be a reading buddy this winter. He has five children that he either reads to or they read to him. Since tomorrow will be his last time for this school year, he wanted to get them a little something, just for fun. I decided that the little somethings needed to be presented a bit better than just handing it to them. So using the inspiration of the color my heart color dare for my colours and the sketch from Atlantic hearts challenge this is what I created:
Colours used are white daisy, pacifica and emerald cardstock as well as the inks and black for the ladybug. The sketch was loosely used the stamping on the one panel of the box. There is still time for you to play with the colours or the sketch, I would love to see what you come up with on the challenges.

Some green card fun for March

Hello again, I managed some time to create (play) in my studio yesterday and this is what I came up with. Following the Atlantic Hearts Challenge #202 using this sketch:
And the Color my heart color dare #234 pick your green, I created this:
I used Fern and New England Ivy card stock with the New England Ivy ink. The one strip is embossed with the diamonds folder from Close to my heart and embossed  with clear embossing powder. The gold polka dot is a washi tape from awhile back. There is still time for you to join in the fun and play too. The Atlantic Hearts Challenge always has a new sketch on Monday's and the Color my heart picks new colours on Fridays.

This Chair

Hi again, I thought I would try a scrapbook layout for a change. Last Easter I spotted this chair at my brother's home and was delighted. I took a few photos to help me remember, then as I am taking a class on remembering our journey thought I would scrap it! Creative Scrapbooker has a Sketchy Gallery, where you can find monthly sketches to inspire you to create. I choose to use this one 2017_Feb_sketch_kellyklapstein__FINAL.jpgfrom February this year. Yes I know I do not have two photos, but these are for inspiration. I am also using colour inspiration from the colour my heart colour dare colour dare #233, where we are asked to use theses colours:  No automatic alt text available. Black, white daisy, pomegranate, peacock and sea glass. A few weeks ago I took part in a paint night where we painted a circle, I used a similar technique on my layout. I used the larger brush water colour brush and picked up the colour from the lids of my inks, after giving them a good squeeze while closed, and painted my circles. This is my creation:
It was fun to play with colour and record some of my memories of these chairs.

I also used the sketch challenge from the Atlantic hearts challenge, there is still time to join in and play with the sketch. This is what I created.....

A birthday card for our second granddaughter. The second card was after my order came and I just had to play with my new die-cuts.

Paint splatter fun....

Need a fast and fun birthday card? Check out this one....I used the colours from this weeks color my heart color dare to use these colors...No automatic alt text available.

And this is what I came up with...
I also used our happy thin cuts and a birthday sentiment from a retired set. It was lots of fun to 'splatter' the paint colors around.
Any items used to create this card may be available on my web-site, just go to the shopping link on the upper right.

Have you ever sent a paper hug????

Back again, I have created another card for my workshop this week Friday evening. I love challenges as they inspire me, so at the Atlantic hearts challenge we are using sketch #195  and again on the Color my heart color dare #226.

No automatic alt text available.Image may contain: text
I used the Close to my Heart stamp set D1711 that is a fundraiser for Operation Smile. I may still colour in my little girl, I am very happy with how this turned out.

Thought I would try a different challenge for today's card....Over on the heart 2 heart challenges we are challenged to use gold and silver. So how about a gold, silver and black valentines day card using this months stamp of the month!
I have created a pop up inside using the sentiments from the stamp set. I stamped the all the images on the front using versa mark ink. The heart with the flowers is embossed in silver and the flowers are coloured in with our metallic markers, the Adore You is embossed in gold. Kinda difficult to see the colour differences, but it is a stunning card.

This will be one of the cards that we will create at this Friday's card class! Let me know if you are interested in joining us in my studio.

Oh Deer paper pack color dare 223

Hi again all, I have been wanting to 'play' for a bit now, but have been very busy creating over 100 Christmas cards to be delivered. They are all done now (I think) so play time.
I have been participating in the CSMphotoprompt on Instagram and was exploring their site some more and came across a sketchy challenge, they post a new sketch each month and invite you to play. I choose the November sketch as it would work best with my photo, you are welcome to play along any time. 2016_November_sketch.jpg So.... as per usual I also checked out the Color my heart color dare and we are challenged to create something using the color pallet of the Oh Deer paper pack So I thought I have that pack and also a photo that would work wonderfully with that pack and combined the two challenges. Here is my creation:

I attempted to get all the papers used in the sketch but my photo covered most of them
:(. I cut out all my lettering and numbers using the font from Close to my Hearts new Flower Market Cricut collection. It was nice to get a larger project finished and framed on my wall. Thank you for the challenges and also for looking. All products used are from Close to my Heart available via my shopping cart in the upper right.
Remember to take some time for yourself and let yourself get creative.

This month we are using the colour of the year from Close to my Heart....SEA GLASS. Such a pretty shade of blue/green. My mother had to move to a care facility @six weeks ago and the changes in her life/health have been dramatic. I think we just saw her on a off day last weekend but ... I had taken a photo of her on the beach just a few weeks before she moved and the photo of her hands is from last Sunday. I needed to get these scrapped so I could display them on my wall as a reminder of the better days. I decided to make a tonal layout from a sketch inspiration from Rochelle Spears on my Pinterest board, Scrapbook sketches. She has lots of scrapbook sketches on her blog, you should check it out....   I thought rather than try to find other papers, which I am sure I have somewhere I would create my papers so they would all work. I am also in the midst of moving my crafting space around, hubby had a window put in for me on the south side so I now have natural light to work with.  This is the layout I created:

I used a lot of different tools for the layout. Various alphabet stamps, I embossed some of the strips of paper using our folders, it is so nice that they can handle the longer strips with the slot in the top to pull them through, and then inked them with the sea glass ink. MOM is heat embossed in gold. I really enjoyed working on this project.
In the time in between I also blinged up my SEA GLASS planner for next year, using some stickers I have had for way too many years.
Your next stop on the Cross Canada Hop is Michelle Hugh of the right hugh .
If you get lost along the way, you can head to Michelle S Blog,, as she has the complete blog list.
Thanks for hopping along with us - we hope we were able to inspire you to get creative using some of the designs, products and techniques seen along the way. We hope you will join us again next month when we will be featuring projects created using our Traditional and Non-Traditional Christmases. So mark December 15th on your calendars and hop along with us.

Christmas is coming....

Time to start creating those Christmas cards to bring joy to special people in your lives. Join me on Friday October 21, 2016 for a card workshop in the evening....We will create this card:
I used the sketch from this weeks Atlantic hearts challenge to create this card as well as some inspiration from this months stamp of the month Blog hop. I also used this months stamp of the month! Yuletide Joy! I random stamped the star image in slate on the slate cardstock and whisper on the white card stock. The black star is embossed with silver embossing, the silver glitter is our glitter tape cut in half and then some red bling. The sentiment is stamped in cranberry for a nice pop of colour. There is still time for you to join in the fun and create a card using the sketch from the challenge.
If you would like to purchase their own supplies to create your own creations, shop on my link on the right. If you would like to make your own you can join my card workshop on Friday, October 21, 2016, contact me for more details.
